Tour Overview

Aoraki Mount Cook National Park is home of the highest mountains and the longest glaciers in New Zealand. It is alpine in the purest sense – with skyscraping peaks, glaciers and permanent snow fields, all set under a star-studded sky.

With this type of terrain comes adventure, and during the winter and spring that means action – extreme action by some of the worlds top skiers and boarders. This is your opportunity to venture into a realm of photography only accessible by a mere handful of the worlds top shooters.

You’ll be photographing an elite team of riders who will be jumping over and above you and crevasses and ice seracs you stand amongst in our own private helicopter.

Led by a team of the most highly qualified mountain guides in the world, our small crew of just four photographers will access the grandeur peaks of Aoraki utilising a helicopter to you into places you could only dream of.

Outside of the action is a myriad of dramatic photographic opportunities shooting in the world renowned International Dark Sky Reserve, visiting wineries, lakes, rivers and the meeting of local legends.

Your accommodation is the Hermitage Hotel that lies beneath glaciated mountain peaks and Mt Cook. It’s your base for an intrepid journey through glacial valleys to mouth watering culinary dining adventure.

Join globally renowned adventure and extreme sports photographer Tony Harrington as he shares with you what has been his backyard for 20+ years.

This truly is a money can’t buy experience. The opportunity is to be just one of a maximum of four photographers shooting two world class professional snow athletes. You will be shown techniques to best capture action, using lighting and framing to go beyond boundaries of traditional photography. This is action art at its finest.

You do not need to be a skier, snowboarder or mountaineer, nor ever have been in the snow before. We provide snowshoes and our private helicopter and guides will put you in the right location on the mountain to capture the magic of the action and breathtaking beauty around you.

Tour Overview

Day 1 to 3 – Extreme Mountain Biking

Extreme Mountain Bike photography around the breathtaking mountain ranges, green valleys and deep blue lake of Lake Wanaka. Staying at the luxurious Edgewater Resort, we will join a small number of the best local mountain bikers as they air into the valleys below, ride extremely steep terrain and power through turns with incredible backdrops.

Mountain Biking in NZ

Day 4 to 7 – Wanaka to Mt Cook

Drive 2.5 hours to Mt Cook, stopping at various locations along the way to shoot landscapes. We will base our schedule in the slopes on the best day/s to get up in the helicopter.

At 27 kilometres in length, the mighty Tasman Glacier is a powerful piece of landscaping equipment. While it slowly carves the valley sides, it provides a landing place for small ski planes and helicopters. Surreal, milky lakes are a feature of the park – suspended, glacier-ground rock sediment makes the water opaque.
