Tour Overview

Day 1 – Cooma – Crackenback

We will Start in Cooma to sort out snow shoes and clothing if needed for the group before making our way to some hidden local areas that are never photographed by other tours. We will head out to the Tuross Cascades to photograph waterfalls shrouded in mountain fog. Lunch will be in Cooma at one of the many wonderful eateries the town has to offer.

Our next stop for the afternoon will be to secret location on private property. We also have access to an incredible Hut that only Charles knows, it is a beautiful high country hut surrounded by large Poa tussocks and will be visited the last stop of the afternoon. After the sun has set we will make our way to Crackenback for the Dinner and to prepare for the next day.

Day 2 – Perisher & Guthega

We will start our day towards the ski resorts of Perisher and Smiggins to shoot waterfalls surrounded by ice and snow. There will be many beautiful snow gums and interesting snow scapes. Lunch will be at Perisher in the pub where you will be able to warm up and get some warm food. For the afternoon we will travel back up the road and to Guthega to hopefully find some wildlife such as wombats in the snow and to photograph more interesting scenes around the Guthega Dam and the surrounding icy mountain streams.

Day 3 – Thredbo & Cascade Valley

We will head up the road in the morning past Thredbo and into the famous Cascade Valley, home to the legend of Silver brumby and his descendants. Charlie will show us where he takes his international award winning brumby photos and hopefully find us some brumbies. Other things of interest will be amazing snow gums, the headwater of the Thredbo river and many ice formations.

Lunch will be at Thredbo just back down the road. The afternoon we will travel back up the road and hike to the Ramshead for sunset. The Ramshead has many amazing scenes along the way with large granite rock formations overlooking the main range and the Cascade Valley.

Day 4 – Geehi Airstrip – O’Brien’s Hut

We will travel back past Thredbo and down the Alpine way into some of the most picturesque scenery in Australia. We will travel from 1900m above sea level to 450m at Geehi Airstrip. Geehi offers an amazing panoramic view of the West face of the Main Range. In the foreground will be many Eastern Grey kangaroos with snowy mountain backdrops, touring Mountain ash trees, and crystal clear rivers that curve around the historic Geehi Fishing Huts.

We will travel to Scammells Lookout out next to view the main range from a different angle and then onto Kanchoban for lunch. The afternoon we will travel around the Northern end of the KosciuszkoNational Park to O’Brien’s hut for Sunset. We will be surrounded by the beautiful white skeletal trees of the fire-damaged snow gums and Mountain ash which will hopefully go pink as the sun sets.
